Nine communities commend govt for electricity supply

Auto Contras, (C/R) June 9, GNA – The chiefs and people of nine communities in the Auto Bontrase-Nfadwen-Ayiresu Electoral Area in the Awutu-Senya District of the Central Region have commended the government for connecting them to the National Electrification Grid. The communities are Awutu Bontrase, Awutu Kokobeng, Awutu Anim Akubre fa, Awutu Mfadwe, Awutu Nkwadum, Akubrefa, Odotom, Ayiresu and Bentum. The assembly member for the area, Mr Daniel Asomani, made the commendation on behalf of the people, in an interview with the Ghana News

Agency, at Winneba.

The Government with the district, he said, had within a few years provided development projects, including the construction of school buildings, teachers’ quarters and good drinking water towards improving t he living standards of the people.

Mr Asomani said six other communities in the area had, however, not benefited from the electrification project, a situation he described ‘as very disturbing to them’. He, therefore, appealed to the government to as a matter of urgency t o include those communities to avoid animosity between them and the beneficiary communities.

Mr Asomani appealed to the people to use the power to establish small-scale businesses and other income generating ventures to improve th eir living conditions. He advised them to use the electricity wisely to avoid huge bills tha t could result in the disconnection of supply.

Mr Asomani further commended the government for the tarring of the Awutu Obrachire-Bontrase-Awutu Beraku Road under the Millennium Developme nt Authority (MIDA), adding that, the bad nature of the road had hitherto prevented farmers from sending their produce to the marketing centres. The Assemblyman appealed to the contractor engaged on the Bontrase section of the road to speed up work to ensure completion on schedule.
