Nima-Mamobi Highway renamed

Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud was present on Wednesday to unveil a plaque after the Nima-Mamobi Highway was renamed after him.

The naming was in recognition of his commitment to humanitarian and welfare services to the people of Ghana and promoting development.

Prince Al-Waleed Al-Saud was also presented with a special gift by the National Council of Muslim Chiefs (NCMC) and title, “Chief’s Elder” to signify their appreciation for his commitment and support.

Chief Imoro Baba-Issah, Public Relation Officer of the NCMC, said the presentation was to enhance the existing relationship between the Prince and people of Nima and Mamobi.

He said Al-Waleed Al-Saud has built a school in the Mamobi community which was also named after him and contributes to several social causes like the Asantehene Educational Trust Fund.

Chief Baba-Issah appealed to the Prince to support the Nima and Mamobi communities in the areas of education, health and infrastructure to promote development in the communities.

“We are indeed honoured to have Prince Al-Waleed in Nima and Mamobi, and we recognize your commitments to the development of our country.

“We hope that this visit would further strengthen the relations between your country and Ghana, and foster more investment for the development of Ghana,” he said.

Other dignitaries present include Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Minister of State in Charge of Development Authorities at the Office of the President and Member of Parliament for North Ayawaso, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye, Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Naiza Mahama Toure, Member of Parliament for East Ayawaso and Members of the NCMC.
