Nigerian trader remanded for defilement

Accra, Dec. 2, GNA- A Nigerian trader was on Thursday remanded in Prison custody by an Accra Circuit court for defiling a 14 year-old girl.

Prince Cornelius pleaded not guilty and will reappear on December 6.

Police Chief Inspector E.T. Boison told the court that the accused and the victim’s mother live together in the same house at Dansoman in Accra.

In November this year, while the victim was having a bath in the night, the accused forcibly entered the bathroom and had sex with her but warned her not to mention it to anyone.

The victim however reported the matter to her mother who also made a report to the police for the accused to be arrested. In his defence, the accused person admitted the offence but stated that the victim gave consent and so he should not be held for defilement.
