Nigerian remanded for defilement

Kumasi, May 12, GNA-A Circuit Court in Kumasi has remanded into prison custody, a 30-year-old Nigerian, Alloy Ekwenehi, for defiling a four-year-old girl.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on May 25. Police Chief Inspector Agnes Dinkyini told the Court presided over by Mr Mensah Essel that the accused, a trader in Kumasi, on April 17, saw the victim defecating at a refuse dump, where he had also gone to defecate.

Police Insp Dinkyini said Ekwenehi asked the girl to squat closer him and when she obliged he sexually abused her. The prosecutor said a man who saw the accused in the act raised the alarm, which attracted a crowd.

Ekwenehi told the crowd that arrested and handed him over to the Suame Police that he was cleaning faeces on the girl’s thighs. Police Insp Dinkyini said a medical report confirmed that the victim was sexually abused.
