Two Ghanaian women and a Nigerian who trafficked a two-year old girl, to Nigeria have been remanded into Police custody by a Tarkwa Circuit Court.

The victim, Diana Agyire Fynn, was trafficked from New Tekunansu near Samahu in the Prestea Huni-Valley District.

The accused, Adamma Obiajunwa, 45, also known as Chichi Obi, Diana Oduro, 30, and Theresa Arthur, 21 pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and human trafficking and they are to re-appear on September 9, 2014.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr. Justice Kwame Nana Essel, that the child is the third accused person, Theresa Arthur’s daughter.

He said at about 21:50 hours on August 23, this year, the Tarkwa Police Divisional Command had information that the accused persons had trafficked Theresa’s daughter to Nigeria.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said that same day, the Police arrested Adamma at a check-point near the Bogoso junction, while Diana and Theresa were also arrested at New Tekunansu near Samahu.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said investigations carried out by the Police indicated that, the accused persons connived and sent the victim to a woman in Nigeria without proper documentation.

He added that during interrogation, the accused persons denied selling the child but claimed that the monies paid by the said buyer in Nigeria was meant for transportation.

Chief Inspector Amponsah added that the Police was making every effort to rescue the child and bring her back to Ghana.
