Nigeria disowns man arrested over voter’s registration

The Nigerian High Commission has disowned one Evangelist Vanda arrested in Tema for registering in the just ended limited voter’s registration exercise.

It was widely reported that the arrested evangelist is a Nigerian.

The 32-year-old itinerant preacher, told the police during interrogation that having stayed in the country for the past six months, he thought he was eligible to partake in the exercise, which he successfully did.

His Ghanaian accomplice, who guaranteed for him during the process, is also in the grip of the police for flouting the electoral law.

But the Nigerian High Commissioner Mrs. Adekundi Sonaike-Ayodeji explained that investigations have revealed the said gentleman is not a Nigerian.

Addressing the media, Mrs. Sonaike-Ayodeji to Ghana lamented the consistent negative reports about Nigerians living in Ghana.

“The man on his own maintained that he is not a Nigerian…the man said that in the first place he is not Nigerian for him to even substantiate his nationality…and in the process it was established that he was not a minister.”
