The Nigerien Embassy in Ghana has officially petitioned government over the manhandling of its citizen Halidu Moro and the refusal of the state to refund his $400,000 to him.
The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) confiscated the money from Mr. Moro upon his arrival in Ghana over suspicion of fraud.
The Human Rights Court ruled last week for the money to be refunded, but the same court has now reviewed its earlier ruling.
The court presided over by Justice Anthony Yeboah reviewed its order Tuesday after the EOCO indicated it was appealing the ruling.
But Lawyer for the Nigerien Alexander Afenyo Markins has indicated that he will file a writ of certiorari at the Supreme Court to quash the ruling of the High Court to stay the execution.
The Niger embassy has also reportedly written to the Foreign Affairs ministry expressing their displeasure at the conduct of the State concerning their citizen and his funds.
Background
The suspect, Halidu Moro was first arrested and the money confiscated upon his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in 2014.
Moro subsequently filed a suit challenging the confiscation of his money at the Human Rights Court.
His application was granted with the court ordering the state to release his money.
