NHIS urged to open sub offices in communities

Jukwa (C/R) July 30, GNA – A chief has appealed to the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Health Insurance Scheme to open sub offices in communities to register people.

Nana Afrifa Yamoa II, Jukwahene, made the suggestion at a forum organized by Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Health Insurance Scheme for chiefs, opinion leaders and assembly members to whip up public interest in the scheme.

He attributed low registration of people in some communities to lack of money as well as distance and added that he believed a lot of people would join when it is brought to their doorstep.

Nana Yamoah also suggested that the NHIS secretariat should liaise with chiefs and opinion leaders in their areas of operation for the appointment of agents to man the sub offices to ensure accountability.

He also appealed to management of the scheme to speed up the processing of registration cards and expressed concern that some people were yet to receive their cards even though they registered since the scheme was instituted.
