NHIS offices closed over card shortage

Some National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) offices are shutting down temporarily to customers over their inability to issue cards as a result of a shortage of printing materials.

Hordes of clients who visited the affected district offices of the Authority to either get new cards or renew their old ones were unable to do so as a result of the closure.

Authorities at the NHIA say they are expediting processes to rectify the problem so as to restore normal service to clients.

Thousands of Ghanaians rely on the NHIS for medical treatment in Ghana. Those people could be seriously affected if the problem protracts.
