NHIS holders sensitised on benefits

Mr Joseph Yaw Owusu-Kwarteng, former Public Relations Officer of the Awutu Effutu Senya District Health Insurance Scheme, has advised premium holders of the scheme to remain reliable to the policy.

This, he, said would enable them gain from its numerous benefits.

He advised the people, especially pregnant women to register with the scheme to enable them to obtain medical attention.

Mr Owusu-Kwarteng, gave the advice when he sensitised more than 80 patients at the Out-patients Department of the Winneba Municipal Hospital on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He said the free delivery policy under the NHIS system was designed purposely for the eradication of maternal deaths in the country.

“This is why implementers of the NHIS policy deemed it extremely important to continuously impress upon all pregnant women and girls to attach great value to register with the scheme,” he said.

He advised Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliations and religious believes to support the implementation of the scheme.
