NHIS cards in Bawku not collected

Bawku (U/E), Sept 20, GNA – About 10,000 Health Insurance cards have not been collected in the Bawku and the Garu-Tempane offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme by the applicants.

The cards had been left unclaimed for a long time and that had become a worry to the two offices.

Mr Mohammed Seidu Akugri, Manager for the Bawku scheme, told the GNA in an interview in Bawku during an exhibition that the two offices had been choked with the cards and appealed to the owners to come for them.

He said the essence of the exhibition was to educate the people about the scheme and create awareness about the cards so that it would prevent and reduce double registration.

Mr Akugri mentioned that double registration had become a major challenge to the scheme and measures were being put in place to stop it.

The Public Relation Officer of the scheme, Mr Asaana Salifu, said efforts were being made to educate clients on the need to sustain the scheme.
