NHIA to increase number of beneficiaries in WR

The Western Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is registering indigenous, vulnerable and the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) beneficiaries to enable them to access quality health care.

Mr Francis Asante-Mensah, the head of the Authority in the Region, said through mass and special registration exercises aimed at growing the membership from 1.2 million to two million before the close of the year.

The Director told the GNA during a blood donation exercise that access to quality health care continued to be the key goal of the Authority.

The blood donation exercise, therefore, formed part of moves to stock the various blood banks with enough blood for use.

Mr. Asante- Mensah said the NHIA instituted first July every year to donate blood to support health care across the country.

About 100 staff drawn from the Ahanta West, Mpohor Wassa West and East, Shama and Sekondi-Takoradi donated blood.
