NHIA inaugurates new Ashanti Regional Office

A GH¢70,000.00 office complex built to house the Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has been inaugurated.

The project, funded by the government, effectively closes the chapter of operating in private rented accommodation.

Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Yaw Adusei, who was on hand to perform the inaugural ceremony, said openness and transparency was important in the management of the health insurance scheme.

He urged the staff to continue to work hard and with total commitment to sustain the significant improvement of access to quality health care, a decade into the scheme’s introduction.

They should also show ownership of the building and ensure that it is kept in good condition at all times.

Mr Winfred Agbegivor, Corporate Affairs Director of the NHIA, said biometric registration of card holders being piloted in the Greater Accra Region, would be replicated across the country.
