Accra Two non-governmental organizations today presented teaching aids valued at 30 million cedis to the Gilead School at Gbawe New Town in Accra. Tread Learning Centre (TLC) of the UK and the Centre for Community Studies, Action and Development of Ghana presented 3,000 books, three computers, three printers, two steel cabinets and video cassettes to the school. The NGOs who are establishing a library complex for the Gbawe community are at the moment using the school as a pilot programme. Mrs Margaret Clarke-Kwesie, Member of Parliament for Ga South who received the items, commended them for establishing the library which will complement what the Ghana Library Board and school libraries are doing. “Since most schools do not have access to books I hope these books will meet their urgent needs.” Mrs Clarke-Kwesie who is a Minister of State, thanked the donors and called on other organisations and companies to emulate them. Mr J. K. Quartey, Executive Director, TLC, expressed the hope that the new community library will be ready by the end of the year. He called on the government and residents of Gbawe to support and patronise the library.
