NGOs donate health items to Damong community

The Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) in collaboration with Tuma Kavi Development Association, both non-governmental organisations, has donated assorted educational and health items to the Damong community.

The items worth GHC12,500.00 were presented to the Demong primary and Junior High Schools and Kpalba Health Centre in the Saboba District of the Northern Region.

The items include two baby weighing scales, two drip stands, one wheel chair, two BP apparatus, 150 treated mosquito bed nets.

The others are: 200 story books and 16 abacus teaching aids, 16 solid figures, 24 charts, 24 puzzles, 16 sorting height, 16 scale balance and eight 4-way operational game boards.

The donation was to enhance the quality of primary health care delivery and basic education in the Saboba District.

Reverend Mrs Sanatu Nantogma, the Executive Director of Tuma Kavi Development Association, who donated the items urged teachers to make good use of them to ensure quality education.

She called on the Ghana Health Service, the Ghana Education Service and the Saboba District Assembly to increase their investments in the health and education to reduce the burden on parents.

Mr Abdulai Tahiru, Executive Officer of Human Resource at the Saboba District Health Directorate who received the items, expressed joy at the benevolent gesture of the two organisations.

Mr Joshua Chemah, Assistant Director of Finance and Administration at the Saboba District Directorate of Education, gave the assurance that the equipment would be put to good use.

Tuma Kavi Development Association is funded by CCFC- a Canadian Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1983, and has been assisting women and children in Northern Ghana.

The organisation also focuses on child sponsorship to implement initiatives in the areas of health and nutrition, education, micro-enterprise development, agro-forestry, food security, water and sanitation.
