NGO trains women in Zaare in soap and pomade making

Zaare (U/E), Aug. 13, GNA – Ninety women and four men within the Zaare Electoral Area of the Bolgatanga Municipality have began a four-day training workshop in soap and pomade making.

The workshop, initiated by the Zaare Assemblyman, Mr George Gamson is being co-sponsored by Cactus Foundation, a non-governmental organisation from the Western Region.

Mr Gamson said the training is aimed at offering the participants gainful employment to supplement government’s effort at creating jobs. He is contributing 60 per cent of the cost of the training while Castus Foundation is contributing 40 per cent.

Opening the workshop, the Upper East Regional Co-ordinating Director, Mr George Anaba advised the women to take the training seriously as it would afford them the opportunity to generate income not only to take care of themselves but help to educate their children. He commended the Assemblyman for the training and urged him not to rest on his oars.

A resource person from Cactus Foundation, Miss Ivy Jones said the NGO has successfully trained four communities in the Jomoro District in the Western Region.

They have accessed a 100 million-cedi loan from the district assembly to promote their business.
