NGO to sets up Education Fund

Accra, Sep 5, GNA – Friends of the Aspiring and Married Couples (FOTAMAC), a Madina-based non-governmental organisation championing the fight against HIV/AIDS is to set up an Education Fund to assist wards of disadvantaged single parents and unemployed couples in first cycle institutions.

Mr Samuel Owusu, President of FOTAMAC who made this disclosure at a meeting with about 70 volunteers of the organisation at Madina, said the scheme would take off during the 2004 academic year.

Mr Owusu stated that the scheme to start with a target of 50 million cedis as seed money, would initially operate on a pilot basis in the southern sector of the country.

He advised parents to take advantage of the scheme when it becomes operational next year, to enable their wards have education to attain greater heights.
