NGO spearheads campaign against HIV in Agona Swedru

Agona Swedru (C/R), Sept. 13, GNA – The Young and Lonely Foundation, Ghana (YLF), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) at the weekend organised an HIV and AIDS awareness programme at Agona Swedru in the Central Region.

The programme was the Foundation’s contribution towards eradicating the menace in the area.

Communities that have benefitted from the programme which was started in August, this year included Ajumako, Asikuma, Oda and some second-cycle schools.

Speaking during one of the programmes at Mangoase at Agona Swedru, Mr Gilbert Kofi Germain, Executive Director of YLF observed that; the AIDS scare is real”.

Mr Germain advised the citizenry to take the necessary precautions to avoid contracting the disease.

He asked the people to guard against sexually transmitted diseases, by staying faithfully with one partner.

Mr Germain urged couples to embrace family planning and do away with the aged-old belief in large families, as a source of wealth.

He appealed for support from public-spirited organisations and individuals to facilitate the work of the Foundation.
