NGO presents items to KATH

Kumasi, June 11, GNA- Providence Centre For Humanity International, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in America on Friday presented 800 syringes, 500 surgical gloves and a wheel chair totalling 45 million cedis to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Nana Amo Adjepong, President and Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, who presented the items, said his organisation was committed to supporting the government in fighting HIV/AIDS in the country. He said the centre would do everything within its means to provide KATH with more syringes, gloves and drugs to fight the menace.

Nana Adjepong said the organisation has in stock 50 wheel chairs, computers and medicines to be distributed to the Offinso Saint Patrick’s Hospital and the Boamang health centre in the Afigya-Sekyere district. His organisation in partnership with the Organisation for International Development (OID), another NGO, have plans to come to Ghana with nurses, social workers and doctors to offer free medical and dental care to people at a date to be fixed later.

Mr Isaiah Offeh-Gyimah, Director of Administration of KATH, commended the centre for the items and said what it had done needed to be emulated by other organisations and individuals.

This, he said, would not only go to help health delivery at the hospital but also show what people could do to support the government to provide the health needs of the people. 11 June 04
