NGO presents constitution to NCCE

Accra, April 27, GNA – Governance Africa Foundation, an NGO, has presented 500 copies of pocket-size constitution to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

Mr George Odamtten, Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, said he was presenting the books as part of the Foundation’s civic and social responsibility to Ghana’s effort to deepen the democratic culture. He reiterated that Ghana’s democracy was still young and institutions such as his and the NCCE had to work together to achieve the goals of democracy faster for development.

Mr Odamtten said the Foundation was not just to supply books but also to help in collaboration with NCCE to educate people, even pupils in Primary 3, for them to become important resources for the nation. “Once such people and all Ghanaians understand that governance is meant for them, the aim of civic education would be achieved,” he said. Mr Kwaku Baa Owusu, Director of Education, NCCE, thanked the Foundation, which it said, was working to ensure that “we deepen democracy in Ghana”.

He said it was better for society to have access to knowledge about laws, regulations and rules of society so that very little violations would occur.
