NGO gives to orphans and needy in Awutu-Effutu-Senya District

Winneba, July 21, GNA – Project Research Implementation Organization (PRIO), a non-governmental organization based at Kasoa, on Wednesday presented 30 bales of second-hand clothing valued at 150 million cedis to the district office of the Department of Social Welfare.

The clothing will be distributed to some orphanages and needy people in the district.

Mr Richard Kwadwo Saakwaah, President of the PRIO, said the presentation followed a request by the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Office of the Department of Social Welfare made to the NGO. Mr Godwill Francis Acquah, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Officer of the Department of Social Welfare received the items and thanked PRIG. Mr Acquah said orphanages at Awutu Bawjiase, Kasoa and the two at Awutu Ofaakor would be considered first before other needy people would be taken care of.

Meanwhile, the Effutu Traditional Council has presented six crates of eggs and a ram to the Under-17 national team, the Black Starlet, who are training at the Winneba Sports College. Neenyi Ghartey VII, the Omanhene who made the presentation, said the items were in appreciation of the good work the team did to qualify for the World Cup tournament and also to motivate them to win the World Cup.

Mr David Duncan, the coach, and the Director of the Sport College, Mr Daniel Asabia who received the items, thanked the traditional council for the presentation.
