NGO gives six motorbikes to six districts

Accra, Oct 1, GNA- Prof Andrew Akutu, the Country Director of the African Youth Alliance (AYA) and Pathfinder International (PI), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), have presented six motorbikes worth 150 million cedis to the National Youth Council (NYC). The motorbikes are to be used in Akuapem North, East Akim, Kwahu South districts in the Eastern Region, and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Atwima and Afigya Sekyere districts also in the Ashanti Region.

Prof Akutu said this was in fulfilment of AYA’s programme to support the NYC’s “Challenge Cup” project towards the achievement of its objectives in the development of the youth in the country. He said the welfare and well being of the youth is very important and to achieve this there is the need to organise sporting activities to mould their character.

The National Co-ordinator of the NYC, Mr Joe Mantey, said the Challenge Cup project is geared towards the promotion of responsible sexual behaviour among the youth.
