NGO donates to Mpohor District Assembly

Apraponso (W/R), June 6, GNA – Nana Akua Bri The Second Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), at Apraponso, near Takoradi, on Monday presented assorted health and educational items, valued at 200 million cedis to the Mpohor Wassa East District Assembly. The items included electric beds and wheel chairs, school furniture, textbooks, exercise books and used clothing.

Making the presentation, Mr George Sarkwa, Country Coordinator of the NGO, said the African Foundation For Health Information and Culture (AFHIC) in Denmark donated the items to the organisation. He said Nana Akua Bri, the Chief of Apraponso, who is resident in Denmark and also a member of the Copenhagen City Council, appealed to the AFHIC for assistance to improve living conditions in the community. Mr Sarkwa said the Foundation intends to launch an initiative to develop primary and junior secondary schools in the town. He said the Foundation would construct an 18-million-cedi community centre and a clinic for the people.

Mr Edward Tawiah Amprofi, the acting District Chief Executive, who received the donation, said the items would boost health delivery and teaching and learning.
