NGO donates medical items to MOH

Accra, July 16, GNA – Progressive Horizons International (PHI), a non-governmental organization, on Friday presented medical equipment and drugs worth 1.8 million dollars to the Ministry of Health. The items including beds, wheel chairs, syringes, drugs, mattresses among others, were provided to support health care delivery in the country.

Mr Jerry Pittman, Executive Director of PHI, based in the US, said his organization, which supports health delivery systems would love to change the quality of health services and care for individuals with disabilities.

He said the items would be given to the Ridge, Swedru Central Government Hospitals and some medical centres in the Northern Region. Mr Pittman called for a long-term partnership with the Ministry to enable them to achieve the proper health care needed in the country. Mr Moses Dani-Baah, Deputy Minister of Health, receiving the items pledged the Ministry’s continued collaboration with the organisation. He said the Ministry would want to dialogue with the executive of PHI so that they would know specifically, the needs of the various hospitals.

Mr Dani-Baah said the government was doing much in terms of quality health care, especially for people in the Northern Regions.
