NGO donates equipment District Assembly

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Feb. 26 GNA – The Department for International Development, a non-governmental organization (NGO) has donated equipment worth 245 million cedis to Dormaa District Assembly at Dormaa-Ahenkro in Brong Ahafo.

The equipment, comprising 13 computers, printers and accessories, 15 steel cabinets and three manual typewriters, are to be distributed to 13 towns and area councils in the district for database collection to enhance revenue mobilization and future planning purposes.

Mr. Osei Assibey-Bonsu, Dormaa District Facilitator of the DFID announced this at the graduation of 13 secretaries of town and area councils who underwent a four-week computer training course at Dormaa-Ahenkro, organized and sponsored by the Assembly.

He noted that the District Assembly concept was non-partisan and urged the participants to use their acquired skills and knowledge to develop the district rather than to involve themselves in politics. The facilitator added that the donation was part of Brong Ahafo District Support Project (BADSP).

Mr. Augustine Ampaabeng-Kyeremeh, Presiding Member of the Assembly said the computerization of the town and area councils was a laudable policy, which would enhance revenue collection by the Assembly. He appealed to the participants to impart their knowledge to their colleagues, especially Junior Secondary School students to become computer literate.

Mr. Ansu Anane Adjei, course prefect, expressed gratitude to the assembly and the DFID for the training course as well as the equipment.
