NGO declares war against environmental pollution Movement

Tema, Dec. 22, GNA – Corporate Social Responsibility Movement, a Tema-based non-governmental organization NGO, has filed a suit at the Human Rights Division of the High Court in Accra, against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The NGO, which promotes human rights and public interest, prayed the court for an order of mandamus to compel the EPA to take action against two Tema-based companies, the Pioneer Food Cannery (PFG) and the Global Haulage Company (GHC).

Mr Richster Nii Amarfio, a civil society activist and fisherman in Tema, who works along the coastline and in other water bodies in Tema and Accra, including the Chemu Lagoon, filed the suit on behalf of the NGO, on Thursday, December 15, 2011.

These are contained in a statement of claim made available to the Ghana News Agency in Tema on Friday.
