NGO commits 40 million cedis as seed money to women entrepreneurs

Tarkwa (W/R) March 24, GNA- Universal Christian Organisation (UCO) a Non-governmental Organisation operating in the Wassa West District and the Ghana AIDS Commission has committed 40 million cedis as seed money for 40 women who undergone skill training.

Ms Elfrida Annoh, Wassa West District HIV/AIDS Focal Person, who addressed the ceremony to hand over the money to the graduates expressed the need to encourage young women to become economically independent in other not to fall prey to sexual pressures and get infected by HIV/AIDS. She said although there was sufficient public awareness about HIV/AIDS most people were yet to adopt moral lifestyles to avoid infection.

The Right Reverend Joseph Atta Coleman, Director of UCO said the Organisation was aimed at assisting orphans, the vulnerable and less privilege in society.
