Tema, Nov. 1, GNA – Environmental Health Club, an NGO, has donated stationery to the Community Seven Cluster of Schools in Tema, following the recent rains and floods in some parts of Accra and Tema.
The items which included note pads, pens, pencils, erasers, assorted colour balloons and play toys, were obtained through the joint efforts of Mr Malcom Mallet, affectionately called “Pettitts,” a United Kingdom entertainer.
Speaking at the function, Mr Robert Amiteye, Project Co-ordinator of the NGO, urged government and stakeholders on education, to come to the aid of the school which was often affected whenever it rained.
Mr Amiteye thanked the school authorities for giving the NGO the opportunity to interact with and create awareness among the pupils about clean environment and good sanitation.
Miss Gloria Kafui Amegah, Climate Ambassador of the NGO who delivered a talk on Plastic Pure Water Sachets, advised the pupils to guard against littering and the improper disposal of waste in drains, gutters and streets.
Miss Amegah expressed concern about the plastic litter menace in some schools, and expressed the hope that school authorities would educate the pupils on the adverse effects of littering the compound.
Miss Phebe Fiawornu, an environmental campaigner, stressed the need to keep a clean environment, in order to lead healthy lives.
Miss Vida Mantey, a teacher of the school, asked the pupils to cultivate environmentally responsible lifestyles.
