NGO cleans Dixcove and donates towards Environmental Attitude

Shirley Ainoo Smile Foundation (SASF), a Non-Governmental Organisation, based in both Ghana and United States Of America (USA), has donated Sanitation items worth GH? 800 to residents of Dixcove in the Western Region.

The items donated included four (4) wheel barrows, four(4) rakes, and four (4) spades to the community to aid in kick starting a new environmental attitude.
The organization also engaged in a massive cleanup exercisewhere over three thousand residents joined in cleaning the gutters and the major streets where filth had engulfed. It was under the theme; “Embracing the New Year with big smiles (Good Health)”.
The foundation pulled resources from several companies like Norpalm GH Ltd., Ahanta West District Assembly, Zomlion, Serbato Construction Ltd, Dilelect GH Ltd, Adjei, Ansah& associates, Sam’s Photos, and others to make massive cleanup operation a smooth success.
Lots of investigations were conducted into most communities before the organization settled on Dixcove as one which needed help with sanitation.
ObrinpongHimaDekyi (IV) and Nana KwesiAgyeman, Paramount Chiefs of Dixcovewith their assemblymen embraced the idea when they conferred with authorities of SASF on executing a makeover in their community to help residence start the New Year with good health.
According to residence, Dixcove experience floods when it rains due to heavy refuse and sand choked gutters.
The nation’s coordinator of SASF, Joseph Max-Prince Ainoo taught residents on the need to keep their environment clean and not waiting for National Sanitation Day before cleaning their neighborhood.
He added that SASF intends to motivate the youth especially to engage in regular cleaning exercise since it prevents unwanted diseases.
After thanking SASF for organizing such a big environmental project, ObrinpongHimaDekyi (IV) who forewent church service and joined the exercise mentioned that cleanliness was next to godliness and that he wouldn’t have the strength go to church and worship if he gets sick from the environmental hazards that threatened the community.
He encouraged his people to be of good environmental practices; to always keep the community clean, adding that he plans on educating the little ones in their community schools on loitering and its impact on health.
