NGO builds schools for Jema in Brong Ahafo

Jema (B/A), July 14, GNA- Mr Naz Sukhram, Director of International Development and Relief Organisation (IDRO), a Canadian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has cut the sod for work to begin on the construction of a three-classroom block, store and an office for Hamdiya Islamic Junior Secondary School (JSS) at Jema near Kintampo in Brong Ahafo.

IDRO will fund the project to be completed next year for pupils from the local Hamdiya Primary School.

Mr. Charles Osei-Kwaku, Overseas Coordinator of the NGO said IDRO aimed at helping communities in Kintampo by sponsoring brilliant but needy children and orphans.

He said management of IDRO had decided to sponsor 100 students in Jema and said he was personally sponsoring 10 students in Senior Secondary Schools (SSS) in the Kintampo District. The organization has built 10 wells in the district at a cost of 5,000 US dollars.

Mr Osei-Kwaku said a similar project for Islamic students would be extended to the SSS and called for support of the people. Mr James Kwabena Bomfeh, Kintampo District Chief Executive (DCE), re-affirmed the government’s determination to ensure that its policy of education for all and to reduction of poverty is achieved.
