NGO Builds School For Community

Attah-ne-Attah (Eastern Region), 30 Oct.,

World Vision International (WVI) is financing the construction of a 30 million-cedi classroom block for the Local Authority Primary School at Attah-ne-Attah in the Kwahu South District. The community is providing sand, stones and communal labour for the project whose sod-cutting ceremony was held yesterday. The Kwahu District Director of Education, Mr. Godwin Agyepong, said under the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education Programme (FCUBE) all basic schools are community-based and that the people could call for the removal of any teacher who does not work effectively to improve the standard of education in the community. The people should therefore monitor the perfornmance of teachers in their communities and report on them.
