NGO assists rural farmers with poultry

Forikrom (B/A), May 10, GNA – Twenty farmers each from three communities in Techiman Municipality have been presented with poultry birds and bee hives by the Forikrom Abrono Organic Farming Project (ABOFAP).

Each farmer received 20 birds, a bag of poultry feed, drugs and two components of bee hiving equipment.

The items valued at 30 million cedis was made available by the Global Environmental Facility small grant, through ABOFAP, to motivate community-based extension agents as Alternative Livelihood Option Implementation towards poverty reduction in rural communities. Making the presentation, Nana Kwaw Adams, Forikrom Twafohene and Executive Director of ABOFAP, called on the beneficiary farmers to adopt a new approach towards the sustenance of the poultry industry and bee keeping to improve their living standards.

Nana Kwame Ahenkan, Ankobeahene of Fiaso on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked, Care International, GEF and ABOFAP for providing them with the items as a seed capital.
