Newspaper Review Is Killing Us – Publishers

Publishers of newspapers and programme directors are expected to meet to iron out their differences and develop an acceptable framework to minimize the effect of newspaper reviews on television and radio. Newspaper publishers and editors have been complaining about dwindling sales figures because of excessive review of their papers.

About two hours of morning programming on some radio stations and TV breakfast show programmes are built on newspaper stories.

At the just ended media review workshop organized by the Ghana Journalists Association, journalists from the print media complained about the effects of these programmes on the economic fortunes of the publishers.

The communiqu? issued after the workshop urged the two groups to come up with a framework that will sustain interest of listeners without jeopardizing the business of publishers.

The communiqu? also urged media owners to ensure continuous training of their staff.
