Newly-elected assembly members attend workshop

Twifo Praso (C/R) April 26, GNA – A two-day capacity building workshop for newly-elected assembly members of the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District ended on Tuesday with an advice to them to work hard to justify their election. The workshop, under the theme: 93United We Stand” was organized by the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira Civic Union in collaboration with the District Assembly and GIZ, with funds from the German Agency International Cooperation.

The participants were taken through the Local Government System, Decentralization Policy, District Assembly Concept, Leadership Skills, Community Decision Making Process and How to Solve Communal Problems. Mr Gabriel Mensah, Chairman of the Civic Union, said the issues had been designed to enhance participants’ understanding of the functional relationship among the key stakeholders in the new local government system.

Mr Joseph Foster Andoh, the DCE, commended the new assembly members on their election and urged them to implement what they had learnt in their areas and towards contributing meaningfully to the business of the Assembly. 26 April 11
