New Zealand Broadcaster Apologises

Newstalk ZB breakfast host Paul Holmes apologises over controversial comments about UN Secretary General Kofi Annan

Newstalk ZB’s Paul Holmes has backed down over some controversial comments he made about the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

On his breakfast show this morning, Holmes said the world would not be told what to do by a Ghanaian.

He also used a racial slur several times.

Newstalk ZB says the comments have been unreservedly withdrawn.

General Manager Bill Francis says Holmes realises his behaviour overstepped the mark and regrets any offence caused.

He will be making further comment on the matter tomorrow morning.
