New Upper West Akyem DCE sworn into office

Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, the Eastern Regional Minister, has called on district chief executives to play their expected roles in helping to improve the lot of their districts.

Ms Frimpong said this at the swearing-in ceremony of Mr Derek Ohene Asifo Bekoe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper West Akyem.

She said his re-nomination is an indication of the trust and confidence his people have in him and urged the DCE to continue from where he left off.

Mr Asifo Bekoe thanked the President for re-nominating him to the position.

He pledged to contribute his quota to ensure that the development of the district reaches majority of his people.

Mr Asifo Bekoe served the district for two and a half years before he was asked to step down and was re-nominated for the position.

He polled 31 votes out of the 38 valid votes cast to affirm his re-nomination.
