New television station in US

A group of Ghanaians based in the US have launched a new television station to aggressively promote African culture, art and talents.

The Onyx Channel provides an opportunity for artists to showcase their work to audience in the US and the Diaspora.

A press release issued by Mr Kenneth Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of prestigious Akwaaba Media Incorporated and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the station would focus exclusively on music videos, documentaries, television shows, news

programming and entertainment specials.

It said the broadcast comes at no cost to the artists.

“This is not just a great opportunity for publicity and brand development but also a wonderful medium for them to have their voices on serious issues concerning Africans heard,” the release added.

The broadcast platform is initially expected to reach thousands of households in the New York Metropolitan Area and ultimately go national.

Prestigious Akwaaba Media and Blueprint District run by the showbiz personality, Quame Junior, have come together to make the promotion possible.

The release invited all Africans to join in the project to bridge the gap between those at home and in the Diaspora.
