New Patriotic Party Denies Press Reports Of Divisions In The Party

The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party has denied media reports that there is confusion within the ranks of the party’s leadership in the region. It said the various misleading reports being peddled in the press are designed to destroy the image of the party in Ashanti region. Addressing a news conference in Kumasi on Monday 6th October the Acting Regional Secretary of the party, Mr.. K.A. Britwum, said the only known rift within the party occurred at the Ahenbronum ward in the Bantama Constituency which the party’s leadership has resolved. Mr.. Britwum said political parties, as human institutions, are bound to be saddled with misunderstanding but that should not be blown out of proportion. He said though the former regional chairman of the Party, Mr.. Amo Bediako, resigned early this year, he was later appointed the Regional Campaign Manager. His appointment was later terminated by the Regional Chairman. The Minority Chief Whip in Parliament and the MP for Subin, Mr.. S.K. Boafo, said the party is holding its Regional Delegates Conference on the 25th of this month since all issues that are likely to affect the conference have been resolved.
