Mr Moses Williams, Chief Director of the Ministry of Communications, in a speech read for Mr EKwow Spio-Garbrah, the minister, said government aims at encouraging the effective use of modern communication technology. Through such medium, government would be able to explain all policies to the people. The minister praised the publishers for ”coming out at this time in spite of all the constraints in the newspaper business”. ”Devote your columns to explain analytically and in simple language the import and implications behind the adoption of current economic policies and programmes by the government such as the Value Added Tax (VAT),” he urged the publishers. He also asked them to ginger up active participation of all manner of persons in the readership public of the magazine. They should also circulate the publication widely beyond the borders of Ghana to attract advertisements to bring in more investments. Mr David Newton, Director of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, said ”This magazine has come to break the monotony of reporting only on political issues to the detriment of the economy”. The cover price of the magazine is 2,500 cedis.
