New labour union to be formed

Tema, Oct. 1, GNA- A new labour union to be known as Union of Industrial Workers (UIW) to be borne out of the Industrial and Commercial Union (ICU), is to formed soon. The establishment of the new labour union is to give hope and direction to industrial workers in the country due to the ICU disaffiliation of the TUC.

Mr Emmanuel Aborjoe, acting General Secretary of UIW who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, emphasised “we have decided to form this union to give needed directions to workers who still see the need to continue with their affiliation with the Trade Union Congress (TUC). He said the leadership of the UIW sees ICU’s action of disaffiliation as misleading.

Mr Aborjoe said; “we have mobilised enough workers from the industrial sector who are not satisfied with the ICU breakaway, and will soon come out at a press conference to outdoor the new union.”.
