New Juaben South CPP asks Delle to step down

Koforidua, June 27, GNA – The New Juaben South constituency branch of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) on Tuesday called on the National Chairman of the party, Dr Edmund Delle, to step because he had declared his intention to contest the Presidential Candidature of the party for the 2008 elections.

A statement signed by its chairman, Mr Ernest Obeng Darfour, said the resignation of Dr Delle would create a level playing field for all contestants for the slot.

It said since Dr Delle’s announcement of his intention, “we have observed that other party members who have the same ambition relaxed their campaign effort as they felt there would be no level grounds for the competition.”

The statement called on the Central Committee of the party to take up the matter with a view to asking Dr Delle to step down as National Chairman.
