New Juaben retired teachers association inaugurated

Koforidua, Nov 11, GNA – The Head of Organization and Administration of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Mr Benjamin K. Osei, has called on pensioners to take responsibility for their lives and happiness after retirement.

He urged them not to accept the misconception that retirement meant old age and advised them to realize that though retirement was new experience for people it had the same phases for everyone. Mr Osei was speaking at the inauguration of the New Juaben Municipal Retired Teachers Association at Koforidua on Thursday. He advised pensioners to develop keen interest and the desire to offer voluntary service to the society to enable them have new experiences and that learning something new could become the source of meaningful retirement.

The chairman of the association, Mr David Anoma Bimpong, said the association was formed this year to foster cordial relationship among the members and place their services at the disposal of national assignments like elections, registration of voters and population censuses.

Mr Bimpong said the association hoped to establish a recreational center and run a transport business.

Mrs Ewurabena Ahwoi, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, advised the retired teachers to always keep a positive altitude and think of what they could do for others and not what others should do for them.
