NEW Juaben IPAC inaugurated

A twenty-nine-member New Juaben Inter Party Dialogue Committee (IPAC) was inaugurated in Koforidua on Friday, with an appeal to the members to discharge their duties with impartiality and a sense of nationality for a peaceful election.

The committee members drawn from civil society organizations, political parties, staff of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) would work to prevent violence before, during and after the elections.

Mr Samuel Bawa, Eastern Regional Coordinating Director, who administered the oath of office, urged members to focus their attention on resolving petty squabbles and that had the tendency of degenerating into violence.

Mr Bawa who is also the Regional Chairman of the IPAC, said it was expected of them to work in collaboration with the EC, which also had representation on the committee, and all other stakeholders in the election to create a credible and trusted platform for all parties.

Mr Alex Asamoah, the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, appealed to political party leaders to give right information to their followers to avert violence, before, during and after the elections.**
