New Japanese Amb. urged to improve on relations

Accra, June 22, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday urged the new Japanese Ambassador in Ghana, Mr Masamichi Ishikawa to mark his tenure of office with more development projects and improved relations between both countries. He said the relationship between both countries had improved over the past years, therefore, ” you should mark your tenure of office with continued discharge of more development projects and improve upon the relations.”
President Kufuor made the call when Mr Ishikawa presented his Letters of Credence to him at the Castle, Osu. He commended Japan for her assistance to Ghana especially the cancellation of one billion dollars debt owed by Ghana and the conversion of the loan for the rehabilitation of portions of the Accra-Cape Coast road into a grant.
Mr Ishikawa said the Government’s agenda for its second term in office was human resources development, private sector development and good governance and these would form a firm basis for improvement in the socio-economic development of Ghana and in the relationship between both countries.
