Ghanaian Canadian Accountant in Coquitlam, British Columbia Mr. George Piprah has been appointed Honourary Consul-General of British Columbia. His appointment took effect in April 2006. He takes over from Dr. Bert Allsopp who retired from the position a couple of years ago.
Mr. Piprah will represent the interest of the Ghana Government which includes enhancing trade, tourism and investment promotional activities in British Columbia. He will also issue visas for people wishing to visit Ghana.
Mr. Piprah attended Aggrey Memorial Secondary School in Cape Coast. He then went to Legon School of Administration from 1973 to 1976 where he majored in accounting.
After obtaining his Bachelor degree he moved to Vancouver in 1977 to further his education. He enrolled in the University of British Columbia’s Business Administration program and obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration three years later.
Upon the successful completion of the MBA programme in 1980, Mr. Piprah proceeded to train to become a professional accounting. He obtained the Certified General Accountant designation in 1983 and has since been a member of the CGA Association of British Columbia.
Mr. Piprah worked for Joico of Canada Ltd and rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Finance and Administration. Since 2003, he has been Senior Partner of Piprah & Company, a consulting company that offers accounting and finance services to small and medium size businesses.
Mr. Piprah and his wife Beverley live in Coquitlam with their two children, Bernard and Lenny.
