New fire tender and staff of 14 personnel for Asunafo District

Goaso (B/A), July 15, GNA- Asunafo District branch of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is to have a fire tender and 14 personnel, Mr George Yaw Boakye, District Chief Executive (DCE), said this at a District Assembly meeting at Goaso.

The District Fire Station, which is understaffed, has relied on fire tenders at Hwidiem, 14 kilometres away and Ayum Forest Products, a timber company at Mim, all in Brong Ahafo.

Mr Boakye said the Brong Ahafo Regional Fire Officer had endorsed the release of the tender while the District Assembly was making preparations to provide accommodation for the additional staff. The Assembly lauded the development and expressed the hope that it would help minimize both bush and domestic fires in the district. The Assembly also agreed that the Sankore Police Station needed to be reconstructed to provide a congenial atmosphere for the police to perform efficiently.
