New ferry expected at Ekye for stranded passengers

A new ferry is set to arrive Wednesday to replace the damaged one which left scores of passengers stranded at the shores in Ekye in the Eastern region.

The Ferry which facilitates the movement of people and goods from Afram Plains to Nkawkaw broke down last Friday at Ekye–Adooso leaving scores of market women stranded.

Passengers had to either wait until the ferry is fixed or take a risky decision to use engine boats without life jackets. Assistant Engineer on the ferry, Felix Azumah told Starr News on Tuesday that a new ferry from Akosombo is set to arrive Wednesday morning to ease the congestion at Ekye shore.

“We alerted our engineers and work has started on the damaged ferry and a new ferry is on the way to salvage the situation”.
