New electricity transformer to boost business in Hohoe

Hohoe (V/R), May 20, GNA- Commercial activities in Hohoe and its environs are expected to bounce back when a new 10 Mega Volts Ampere (MVA) transformer is installed in place of a damaged one which served the area. For seven days running, residents of Hohoe and its satellite towns had to cope with life without electricity when 2.5 MVA transformer, which supplied power to the area got damaged. Mr. Divine Vuha, Hohoe District Manager of Electricity Company of Ghana said a heavy-duty claim and a standby generator have been dispatched from Accra for the installation work to commence. He expressed optimism that electricity power would be restored by Thursday after adaptation, compliance and test transmission of the new system.

Mr. Vuha assured customers that the new transformer would boost power efficiency and stability in the area, otherwise plagued with erratic power supply. He told the GNA that 85 percent of the rampant power disruptions in the area were due to the activities of chain saw operators with the remaining 15 percent being technical faults. He explained that the cable lines are hypersensitive to foreign materials, which shut off transmission.
