New Director For BNI

The Western Regional Commander of Police, J. B. Amofa has been appointed Director of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI). He takes over from Elias Owusu Fordjour.

A government statement signed by Information Minister, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, described him as a veteran intelligence officer, who served in the erstwhile Special Branch of the Police Service. The statement explained that Mr. Owusu Forjuor who left office last week had concluded his assignment.

Government sources said Mr. Owusu Fordjuor resigned because of disagreements over events linked to the recent Yendi clashes. He was appointed in August last year to take over from Jones Afari, who spent only seven months at post.
