New commercial airline makes inaugural flight

Accra, July 3, GNA – A United States-based commercial airline operator, WABASH Airline Incorporated, on Monday made its inaugural flight from New York to Accra.

WABASH is co-operating with Trade Wings of US, which will operate the carrier and crew on a Lockheed-Martin L1011 aircraft, on a weekly basis.

The inaugural flight, which arrived at 1137 hours on Monday, had on board 80 passengers. It would be arriving in Accra on Mondays and departing to New York on Tuesdays.

According to the President of WABASH, Mr Yaw Addai-Wusu, they would provide excellent services to Ghanaians and Africa-Americans in the Diaspora.

He said this would boost tourism, trade and enhance relationship between the two countries.

Mr Addai-Wusu said the airline is not in competition with the Ghana Airways but it will rather complement its services.
